YOUR TASK
Your task is to create a word press site for your I.T subject. This site will enable you to upload your work, comment, receive feedback, etc.
To complete this task you will be required to undertake the following process;
Project Management
PART 1 – INVESTIGATION
– Investigate design ideas, navigation, etc. – Print screen 3 well designed interfaces that you could use as a basis for your word press site.
– Research WordPress, answering the following questions;
1) What is word press?
WordPress is a free and open source blogging tool and a content-management system based on PHP and MySQL, which runs on a web hosting service.
2) How is it used?
3) What are some of the features and functions that you could use – Explain?
Features include a plug-in architecture and a template system.
PART 2 – DEVELOPMENT
You are now required to undertake a process of development.
– Log on to http://www.wordpress.com and register (you will need a email and password); You will need to name your site your (username-trinitycollege.wordpress.com)
– Consider design options for your site – Decide upon on that you think it appropriate;
– You will be required to use your graphic design skill in PhotoShop to design and create a header (1000px x 400px). This header should use all of the key ideas and concepts behind the successful branding of a product. (Insert your header to the site);
– Create pages for your site. They will be named – home; project 1; project 2; project 3; project 4; project 5; contact me; misc;
– Your ‘home page’ will now require you to write a paragraph about who you are and why you are doing creating this WordPress site;
– Your ‘contact me’ page will involve you creating a form so that your teacher can email you;
– Your ‘project 1′ page will involve you renaming this page to ‘WordPress’ and will have detailed information about part 1 – investigation along with part 3 – evaluation;
PART 3 – EVALUATION
You are now required to evaluate your site. You could do this by addressing the following questions;
1) What is effective about your site?
2) What could be a potential problem for your site?
3) How could it be improved?
4) Customization and personalization is important to consider when designing an interface. How have you embraced this?
YOU TUBE
Embed a relevant YouTube video into your word press site.
TASK – Create a You tube channel and link it to your home page.
Once completed, email your teacher with the link to your page which has the completed work.
